For ETHGlobal Tokyo 2026 ๐ŸŒ•

Mahalo, ETHGlobal โ€” for opening the doors of Tokyo to the world's builders. To the organizers who conjured this weekend, the sponsors who opened their stacks and their prize pools, the volunteers who never stopped smiling, and the city of Tokyo โ€” neon host, patient sensei โ€” thank you. And to the hackers building through the night beneath the harvest moon: may your compiles be clean, your demos kind, and your coffee bottomless. You are writing the next chapter of a more human internet โ€” one where agents ask before they act, and carry their humans' intentions with care. May every agent carry a blessing. โ€” Shaka Lei Kaumaka & the AI สปohana ๐ŸŒบ

The Workshop Tapes ๐ŸŽฌ

Six workshops from the official ETHGlobal Tokyo 2026 program โ€” ETHGlobal's own recordings, transcribed same-day with aloha by our agents so hackers anywhere can skim and search the knowledge. Forgive any small transcription quirks; the videos are the source of truth.

World's latest products: IDP vs IDKit

Mateo Sauton & Aurelien Brezun ยท Tools for Humanity
  • IDKit is the SDK for proof methods: Orb verification (highest assurance), document / passport NFC checks (live in ~25โ€“35 countries), selfie check (lowest friction), and Face Auth โ€” matching a live selfie against the human the Orb saw.
  • World ID for Agents (IDP) is an OIDC identity provider: federate World ID into your existing auth stack for step-up authentication โ€” a stable, private identifier per human, explicitly not competing with Google/Apple sign-in.
  • "MCP supports a single authentication protocol currently, and it is OAuth" โ€” demoed live: an MCP server challenges the user's agent, the human connects their World ID, and the booking completes.
  • Verify once, reuse across apps โ€” and from the IDP dashboard, users can see which applications accessed their World ID, and revoke them.
  • Shared on stage: 39M users ยท 19M Orb-verified ยท 160+ countries โ€” and the World App has split in two: World ID (proofs) and the new World Money app.
  • Hacker notes from the team: the sandbox uses fake identities (keep production apps small there), an Orb is on-site at the booth, and hackers get $20 in Manus credits โ€” "only for unique humans."

ENSv2: Identity for Apps, Agents & Beyond

Kevin Werkemann ยท ENS Labs
  • ENSv2 is live on Sepolia (mainnet follows staged audits) โ€” and the continuity track rewards integrating ENSv2 into an existing app: "when it hits mainnet you can just flip the switch."
  • Hierarchical registries: every level of the name tree is its own registry holding labels only โ€” registries can be unmounted and remounted elsewhere in the tree without data loss.
  • Subnames don't need a registry: write records into your resolver and sub.alice.eth simply "comes into existence." Use a UserRegistry when handing subnames to other people (tokenized ERC-1155).
  • "Agents as namespaces is interesting โ€” try to use subnames for your agents." ENSIP-25 links ERC-8004 and ENS, and record-scoped roles let an agent touch only its one record "and it can do nothing else."
  • New in v2: your own resolver by default, roles at name / resolver / registry level, soulbound subnames, aliasing (shared default records), and mutable token IDs as an anti-scam guard.
  • Prizes announced on stage: Best Use of ENSv2 โ€” $3k / $2k / $1k ยท Continuity โ€” $2k finalist + $1k + $1k.

Reimagining the AMM with 1inch Aqua

Tanner Moore ยท 1inch
  • Tokyo bounties from the stage: build a brand-new Aqua app โ€” $5,000 ($2,500 / $1,500 / $1,000) ยท or extend an existing app with Aqua โ€” $2,000 ($1,500 / $500).
  • The Aqua router is an ~80-line smart contract with exactly three jobs: LP registrations, balance accounting per strategy, and swap settlement.
  • LP funds never leave the LP's wallet until a trade executes โ€” approve the router, call Aqua.ship(...) with tokens, amounts and a strategy, and an indexer (anyone can run one) picks it up.
  • Parallel strategies from one wallet: $4k of tokens across three strategies can back ~$6k of effective liquidity โ€” and LPs keep governance voting power and can still send committed tokens anytime.
  • SwapVM (itself an Aqua app): strategies are written in JavaScript and compiled to bytecode. Custom opcodes are encouraged โ€” SwapVM sits at Ethereum's max contract size, so "find opcodes you don't want, pull those out."
  • Beyond AMMs: prediction markets, privacy pools and flash loans have all been built at the hackathons where Aqua bounties ran.

How to Navigate the Uniswap Stack

Angela Ocando ยท Uniswap Foundation
  • One open track โ€” Best Uniswap Stack Contribution โ€” welcoming from-scratch and continuity hackers alike: "we don't have any strong requirement on which side of the protocol you build."
  • The one requirement, verbatim: add a FEEDBACK.MD to your repo โ€” "be transparent and honest about where the problems areโ€ฆ we're going to work hard on improving that experience."
  • v4 architecture: a singleton pool contract plus hooks โ€” custom Solidity at lifecycle points (initialize, liquidity, swap, donate); one hook can serve many pools.
  • The Uniswap API is free: swap quotes & execution, cross-chain swaps, and LP position management โ€” "think about your agent having to manage positions" โ€” keys at developers.uniswap.com.
  • Uniswap AI skills cover the whole stack (CCA, permission pools, v4, LP endpoints, swap integration) plus trading tools like DCA, index and copy-trade bots.
  • Scale shared on stage: trillions in cumulative volume ยท 2.7B+ trades ยท 10M+ assets ยท 20+ chains. Her guidance: "focus on what is exciting for me to build โ€” and in the middle, if I can integrate Uniswap, that would be amazing."

Get started on Sui through Agentic Engineering

Raphael Chia ยท Mysten Labs
  • The official Sui MCP server connects your coding agent to Sui's most up-to-date docs so it "hallucinates way less" โ€” demoed live: asked to build a marketplace, the agent surfaced the Kiosk primitive unprompted.
  • A Stanford study of ~100k developers: AI coding nets real productivity gains despite errors โ€” and greenfield projects benefit far more than brownfield.
  • Intentional compaction: after 3โ€“4 failed approaches, dump the state into a markdown file and continue in a fresh context โ€” aim for 40โ€“60% context usage, for quality rather than token savings.
  • RPI โ€” Research โ†’ Plan โ†’ Implement: ~85% of effort goes to research (research-*.md), then an explicit plan (plan-*.md), and implementation should be near one-shot.
  • "Prompting is not a casino": be precise and feed correct context โ€” "fix it, do your best" prompting is gambling. And kill sycophancy: you want an AI that tells you when you're wrong.

Stablecoins, AI Agents & the Future of On-chain

Jeff Wentworth ยท Curvegrid
  • "Ethereum settles value, AI creates intent, the missing layer decides whether money should move โ€” and the missing layer is what we hope that you build."
  • Their reference flow: user intent โ†’ AI agent โ†’ policy engine โ†’ human approval โ†’ secure signer โ†’ blockchain โ€” with the private key and final sign-off explicitly outside the agent's reach.
  • The danger zone they'll probe: no private keys inside agents ยท don't let prompts become policy (policy belongs in an engine) ยท don't skip human accountability for money movement.
  • Three prize categories โ€” RWA tokenization ยท digital asset dashboards (conversational interfaces explicitly invited) ยท AI projects in general โ€” MultiBaas optional: "we reward what you build, not which stack."
  • Fork the Matsuri festival sample app (github.com/curvegrid): stablecoin โ†’ NFT vouchers โ†’ merchant redemption โ€” borrow the pattern or start fresh.
  • Curvegrid is a nine-year-old Tokyo blockchain company: MultiBaas in production for seven years, and Neo โ€” a corporate digital-asset treasury platform โ€” got its first public sneak peek.
